Message from the Director
Welcome to the School of Natural Resources (SNR) at MU!
We are a vibrant, intellectual community dedicated to the conservation, management and sustainable use of natural resources. Our mission is to educate, discover and inform.
If you are a student interested in pursuing a career related to: managing forests; protecting endangered species; working with communities to plan public spaces; educating children and adults about conservation and the environment; forecasting the weather or protecting the quality of our water ... there is a major available to you in the School. Visit the departmental web pages for more information about specific degree programs and career opportunities.
SNR comprises four departments: Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences; Forestry; Soil, Environmental, and Atmospheric Sciences; and Parks, Recreation and Tourism. We have world-class educational, research and outreach programs in each of these four broad areas.
SNR has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in teaching and advising don't let MU's size deter you. As a student in the School, you are part of a small, highly interactive community of students, faculty and staff.
In addition to a superb educational climate, SNR is home to cutting-edge research in all of our disciplines. Our faculty are addressing key problems related to natural resource conservation and use in Missouri, throughout North America, and, indeed, around the globe.
A key aspect of SNR's mission is our efforts to disseminate cutting-edge information to the citizens of Missouri. Through strong outreach efforts, our faculty and staff provide knowledge of use to landowners, businesses, educators, concerned citizens, and natural resource professionals.
Whether you are interested in pursuing an education, curious about research programs, or looking for information on natural resource issues, SNR can help.
Get out and enjoy Missouri's spectacular natural resources!
