Research Summary

  • Pierce's research focuses on the Adaptive Resource Management mode of applied research, with particular emphasis on wildlife populations and habitat relationships within agricultural and forest ecosystems. Current research is associated with the wildlife use of field border systems and the economics of wildlife habitat management on crop production farms in Missouri.
  • Outreach and Extension Interests: Wildlife interactions in agricultural and forest environments; Wildlife stewardship and habitat enhancement on farms and acreages, in backyards and within urban environments; Wildlife damage management and developing strategies that resolve human/wildlife conflicts; Natural resource public policy and education; Developing a sustainable aquaculture industry in Missouri; Enhancing wildlife recreation opportunities on private lands; Family outdoor educational activities that involve wildlife habitat management, fishing, hunting and the shooting sports; Youth life skills development.
