Research Summary

  • Lin's primary research involves the use of plants and genetic modified microbes for applications in the area of phytoremediation and bioremediation in agroforestry researches. Several modern chromatographic and DNA-based techniques have developed to evaluate the bioremediation capacity of a wide range of forages and woody species for reducing transport and enhancing sequestration and degradation of agrochemicals, veterinary pharmaceuticals, munitions explosives, and their degradation products in the vegetative buffer systems.

    Other active research projects include 1) screening phytochemicals from Eastern redcedar (Juniperus virginiana) for development of potential entrepreneurial opportunities, 2) identifying volatile organic attractants from chestnut that has potential application for biological/chemical control of chestnut weevil, 3) investigating the fate of modern herbicides, such as isoxaflutole, in municipal disinfection process, and 4) assessing the effectiveness of vegetative windbreak in reducing transport of malodorous compounds.
