Meet the Forestry Faculty

Milon George

Milon F. George, Ph.D.

Associate Professor
Forestry and Soil, Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences

Education

  • Ph.D. 1975, University of Minnesota

Research

  • Biophysical and environmental plant physiology.

Research Summary

  • George's research interests are in biophysical and environmental plant physiology. Specific research interests include:
    1. Biophysics of freezing survival by supercooling of cellular water in tissues of woody plants.
    2. Microphysics of ice nucleation in solutions and by microorganisms.
    3. Development of instrumentation for measuring freezing resistance in plants and for use in monitoring environmental variables.
    4. Bioremediation: develop whole plant and microbial based systems for the bioremediation of toxic products of agricultural herbicides in water and soil environments.

Teaching

  • Tree Physiology
  • Meteorology of the Biosphere
  • Atmospheric Physics
  • Computer Applications in Natural Resources
