The Missouri Woody Biomass Assessment Tool is a spatial analysis tool developed by MU foresters and geographical information specialists to enable project planners, as well as government and regional economic developers, gain an understanding of how potential woody biomass from harvest residues and/or forest thinnings is distributed within their proposed supply basin.

MU Energy Plant recently announced plans to install a state-of-the-art biomass boiler that will
provide up to 25 percent of the Columbia campus' energy requirements.
Fuels for Schools. The Missouri Department of Conservation, in cooperation with the
USDA Forest Service is offering grants of almost $1 million each to six public schools in select
Missouri counties.
