Forestry Graduate Program Admissions

Acceptance for advisement in Forestry is based on previous scholastic performance and/or professional experience.

A 3.0 (A=4.0) GPA or better is required. Particular attention is given to the record of the last two years of undergraduate study, and/or the type and quality of professional experience since completion of the undergraduate degree. An applicant's GRE score should be 50th percentile or higher preferred in each category or V+Q=1100 and the minimum TOEFL score for international students is : 65/500 (Internet/paper).

To apply for the Forestry graduate program, you mustsubmit all application materials to the MU Graduate School ApplyYourself.

In addition to the on-line ApplyYourself University application, you will need to upload the following materials:

  1. Submit the Forestry Graduate Application. (PDF)
  2. Including a statement of purpose (an explanation/essay of your academic and career background and goals)
  3. A Résumé
  4. Provide letters of recommendation (PDF) to three references.
    • Type or carefully print your name on the top of three forms and provide them to people who are familiar with your ability and academic performance. Be sure to mark whether you do or do not waive your right to access the letter, and sign and date the form.
    • Letters of recommendation should be sent directly from the source of reference to Graduate Director, Forestry, School of Natural Resources, 203 Anheuser-Busch Natural Resources Building, Columbia, MO 65211.

  6. A sample publication (optional)

You must upload all materials onto through the ApplyYourself system. References must also upload letters of recommendation to the ApplyYourself system. You will need to provide the pertinent information to your references. Official transcripts and TOEFL scores (international students only) should be sent directly to the Graduate School.

Application Deadlines

Applications must be received by the following dates:

  • March 15 for consideration of enrollment beginning in the summer semester.
  • May 15 for the fall semester.
  • Oct. 15 for the spring semester.
